Hi, I’m Brandi

(she/her)

Counselling Extern, CCPA Student Member

You can expect a therapy session with me to feel like…

…taking a deep breath after holding it in for a long time as you land in a space where you can show up exactly as you are. An authentic, warm, collaborative environment where curiosity is welcomed and there is no pressure to have everything figured out. Together, we'll make room for both the heavy things and the lighter ones, while exploring challenges and welcoming all of the pieces that make you who you are. My hope is that each session leaves you feeling a little more understood, a little more connected to yourself, and a little more confident in moving toward the life you want to build.

Some phrases you may hear me use in sessions:

"It's about progress, not perfection."

"Let’s get curious about that.”

"Self-compassion creates space for change in ways that shame never can"

"What would it look like if we spoke to ourselves with the same compassion we'd offer someone we love?"

I define my role as…

…someone who sits beside you, not in the driver's seat, as you are the expert in your own life. My role isn't to tell you where to go or take the wheel, but to sit beside you as we explore life's challenges and uncover the strengths, resilience, and wisdom that already exist within you. When you're focused on navigating the road ahead, it's easy to miss things that are just outside your view. Together we can notice patterns, recognize strengths that may have gone unnoticed, reconnect with values that matter most, and explore new ways of moving forward. Wherever you are in your journey, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you, with the understanding that you remain the expert on your life while I offer support, perspective, and curiosity along the way.

You’ll enjoy working with me if you’re…

...looking for a therapist who values authenticity over perfection. If you appreciate thoughtful conversations, are curious about yourself (even when it's uncomfortable), and want a space where both the heavy moments and the moments of laughter have a place, we'll likely be a great fit.

I enjoy clients who…

...ask big questions, appreciate reflection, and are open to exploring both the challenges they're facing and the strengths they already possess. Whether we're untangling old patterns, celebrating small wins, or sitting with life's uncertainties, I love conversations that leave us both saying, "That makes a little more sense now."

My decision to become a therapist was shaped by both personal experience and a lifelong appreciation for meaningful human connection. I've always been drawn to creating spaces where people feel genuinely supported, and there is nothing more rewarding to me than witnessing someone reconnect with themselves. In the beautiful messiness of being human, this work gives me a deep sense of purpose and reminds me every day of the resilience people carry, even when they can't yet see it themselves.

Growing up in a rural community in Newfoundland and Labrador, raised by a single mother, and navigating much of my childhood with undiagnosed ADHD have all shaped my understanding of resilience and identity. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the impact of culture, relationships, neurodiversity, and systemic barriers, while reminding me never to assume someone else's story. I strive to bring humility, curiosity, and cultural responsiveness into every therapeutic relationship, recognizing that you are always the expert on your own lived experience.

What makes me most effective as a therapist is my ability to hold space for clients to show up exactly as they are. I don't rush through uncertainty or difficult emotions, rather, I lean in with genuine curiosity and a willingness to sit with clients through life's heaviest moments while celebrating the small wins that are often overlooked. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel understood, supported, and empowered to discover their own path forward.

I am inspired by…

…the people who invite me into their lives and trust me with the parts of themselves that often stay hidden. Their stories continually remind me to stay humble, keep learning, and never lose my sense of curiosity about the human experience. I believe growing as a therapist starts with growing as a person, and that's something I'll never stop striving toward.
