DBT Group
for 2SLGBTQIA+ Neurodivergent Folks in PEI
Everyone has their own unique sensory profile – that is, the way we process sensory information, and our sensory needs. However, as neurodivergent folks, our sensory profiles can be quite mismatched with our physical and social environments. It is, after all, neurotypical folks who create most of our world!
This can lead to us being either over-responsive or under-responsive to sensory input, which can cause us distress and affect our relationships.
In The Neurodivergent-Friendly Workbook of DBT Skills, neurodivergent activist and author Sonny Jane Wise has created a DBT Module just for us:
Managing Sensory Needs
In this module, we’ll look at:
Our Sensory Profile and Needs (including our three INNER senses – proprioception, vestibular and interoception)
Hyper- and Hyposensitivity (and what to do about them)
Dealing with Sensory Overload
Building a Sensory Toolkit
We’ll probably have some room to add a sprinkling of the Mindfulness or Everyday Well-Being modules to the mix, too!
This FREE virtual group is for neurodivergent 2SLGBTQIA+ adults (19+) in PEI. We’ll be meeting over Zoom. It will be on Thursday evenings at 6 pm AST, and sessions will be 90 minutes long.
There will be four sessions:
February 5th
February 12th
February 19th
February 26th
We have room for 10 participants in the group, so apply early! Registration will close when the group is full, or by 11:59 pm on Sunday, February 1st (whichever comes first).
We would also love it if you supported Sonny Jane by purchasing their workbook (a digital copy is only $10!): https://www.livedexperienceeducator.com/mybook (If this is truly a hardship for you, we can provide you with a digital copy of the Managing Sensory Needs chapter for this group.)
😊 Hope to see you there – we’re gonna have a whale of a time!
