Creative PEI together with Our Landing Place are thrilled to be able to offer fully funded mental health services to PEI’s community of professional artists beginning January 2024.

Below you will find information about the program as well as a self-referral application form.

Program Information

  • Who can access these services?

Individuals who identify as professional artists and culture workers ages 19+ who currently live in PEI.

A professional artist and culture worker is defined as someone who works (full or part time, or by contract) in the following disciplines:

    • Visual Art

    • Theatre and Performance

    • Music

    • Film and Television

    • Crafts

    • Dance

    • Design

    • Museums and Heritage

    • Education and Libraries

    • Festivals

    • Writing and Publishing

    • Video Games

  • How many sessions does each person receive?

Each successful applicant will be allotted up to a maximum of 6 sessions to be used within a 3-month period. Once you have used your sessions, you will have the opportunity to apply for additional sessions (based on availability).

In order to minimize wait times and serve as many community members as possible, we cannot guarantee additional sessions.

  • Do I get a say in who my therapist is?

Absolutely! You deserve autonomy and agency in your mental health journey, and that begins with choosing your therapist.

You will be offered a free 15-minute consultation to ensure you feel the therapist is a good fit before starting any sessions.

Please make sure to check out our therapists’ bios further down this page before applying so you know who you would like to work with.

  • How do I apply?

The first step is to fill out the form below. This will secure your spot on the wait list. You don’t need a referral from a medical or other professional, you can simply refer yourself to our program.

  • What happens after I apply?

As soon as we receive your application you will be added to the wait list. We aim to keep wait times under 12 weeks, and will contact you as soon as one of the therapists you have selected to work with has an available spot. Typically, you will hear from us within 1-2 weeks.

From there, you will be offered a free consultation with a therapist for you to decide if you want to work with them. If you feel it’s a good fit, you and the therapist will schedule your sessions and begin your journey together. If you complete the consultation and determine the therapist is not the right fit for you, let us know and we will connect you with a different therapist.

  • What happens once I've used my funded sessions?

Once you have used all of your funded sessions, you are welcome to continue working with your therapist if you would like to. You will discuss their rates and availability with them.

You can also apply for additional sessions using the form below. While we can’t guarantee additional sessions, we do our best to be able to offer as many sessions to as many folks as possible.

My name is Nicole (she/her). I am a queer femme, white settler and an uninvited guest living on the traditional unceded lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc peoples. ( also known as Kamloops)  I have a strong passion for equity and inclusion and do my best to bring this lens in all of my work. I’ve been a stylist for 22 years so you could say that people are my jam! I recently graduated from Thompson Rivers University with a sociology degree with the goal of completing  a masters in counselling.

Bonjour!
