COMMUNITY ACCESS FUND
The Community Access Fund is reserved exclusively for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks, with priority being given to those living with multiple intersections, particularly BIPOC and Disabled folks.
We welcome those experiencing financial barriers to accessing mental health services (including HRT and Surgical Readiness Assessments) to contact us to inquire about available funds.
We understand that therapy services aren’t always financially accessible to folks in our community. We work throughout the year to organize fundraising efforts (such as our annual Queering Mental Health Conference) that allow us to provide pro-bono and sliding scale services to meet the needs of all members of the community.
What have we already accomplished with the Community Access Fund?
-
We’ve supported queer therapists in training by offering scholarships to support the rising costs of education. We’ve offered discounted training and supervision where possible.
It’s so important that we help queer therapists get into the position to offer help to our community.
-
Our communities faces layered and nuanced forms of oppression. Some of us are facing bigger hurdles to support than others, and we try to recognize that! While we pursue long-running and sustainable programs to offer free or subsidized therapy, sometimes the need is there before the program is available for funding.
Bridging that gap is one way we make use of the Community Access Fund.
-
Feeling seen is more than just names and pronouns. Sometimes we need help accessing the physical markers of the gender we want to express.
We’ve offered financial support to access gender affirming clothing, makeup, and supportive garments through the Community Access Fund.
-
In order to access Hormone Replacement Therapy or Gender Affirming Surgery, individuals need to acquire letters from qualified individuals that indicate that these things will support their health and mental wellbeing. These are costly both in terms of the time of the clinician and the corresponding fees, and are often not covered by insurance.
We’ve applied Community Access Funds towards the time of our qualified clinicians, who offer their services at as much of a discount as they can.
-
Whatever comes into the Community Access Fund finds a home where it can be of service as fast as possible. If that means supporting other programs or facilities that need a boost, we recirculate where we can.
If you’re an organizer or activist with an idea or project you think can help support our communities, reach out! We’d love to hear what you’re working on.
