Liana Rose

Hi, I'm Liana (they/them).

Areas of Focus

My favourite areas to support clients in are:

  • Creative/non-normative relationship structures (ENM, queer family)

  • ADHD/Autism celebration & support

  • Sex and gender exploration with self or in relationship (incl hormone readiness assessments)

  • Development of interpersonal skills

  • Psychedelic integration

  • Skill development toward an envisioned, empowered life

  • I am a queer, gender nonconforming, polyamorous, and neurodivergent musician with a chronic illness who loves driving and hiking through forests and mountains abroad, taking artsy photos, rock climbing, terrible puns, and excellent coffee. If my day can start with yoga/meditation, I'm a happy camper. My experience as an ambivert means I switch between getting my energy from camping music festivals, crafting silently with friends, and alone time in a hammock. Because I'm a human, I get what it's like to traverse tricky and tumultuous internal landscapes and I bring that human (cracks and all!) with me to sessions. The pieces found in my Life Mosaic of Emotional Wellness and Service include: being a foster sibling in my family-of-origin home, a career in music therapy, volunteering in various local communities in need, and running mentorship-and-music programs for youth in precarious home or legal situations.

  • Come as you are! (Ya know, crying, sweatpants, animals on your lap, etc). And then we'll dive into your story, and co-create what therapy looks like based on what you uniquely want for yourself. In an empathic, curious, neuro-affirming and empowering space, I will wonder and philosophize with you, and offer therapeutic direction and techniques to help you build bridges toward your goals/aligned self.

Modalities I draw from a lot are Internal Family Systems (IFS, aka parts work), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Developmental Model for relationships. My work with Martha Kauppi on sex and nonmonogamy, as well as my work with Jules Taylor Shore on boundaries takes up a lot of real estate in my clinical brain.
My approach is also inspired by:

    • Polyvagal Theory

    • mindfulness

    • anti-[oppression / capitalism / colonialism / patriarchy / white supremacy]

    • creativity

    • identity affirmation

    • social justice

    • Somatics / trauma as it lives in the body

    • values exploration

    • my education in relationship skills, neurodiversity (especially ADHD and autism)

    • neurobiology and human evolution

    • sex and sexuality

    • gender expansiveness

    • nonmonogamy

    • attachment wounding

Despite this list, there's a bottomless cavern of stuff I don't know and I always aim to bring my "Ooh what's this?" attitude with me, and do my own research about new things I encounter with you in sessions.

We may gently unearth emotional layers, expand your attitudes and feelings towards life situations, or develop new ways you'd like to act in the world. We might draw or move around. Expect sweet silences, jokes, brainstorming on the white board, and me making metaphors that I admit are sometimes a reach. You can reasonably anticipate I'll ask you to check in with your body cues.

I also offer a therapeutic listening program called The Safe and Sound Protocol that supports the recalibration of a chronically dysregulated nervous system, helping to address stress and trauma in the body.

  • Mondays and Tuesdays from 830am - 2pm EST

(but there can sometimes be wiggle room - reach out if you don’t see something on my schedule that works for you and it’s really important.)
