with Our Landing Place

Kamloops Pride and Our Landing Place are working together to provide free therapy sessions to members of the Kamloops community.

Below you will find information about the program as well as a self-referral application form.

Program Information

  • Who can access these services?

Individuals who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ and live in and around Kamloops, BC.

If you are between 12 and 16 years of age, you are eligible with parental consent.

Over the age of 16, you can apply on your own via the application form below.

  • How do I apply?

The first step is to fill out the form below. This will secure your spot on the wait list. You don’t need a referral from a medical or other professional, you can simply refer yourself to our program.

  • What happens after I apply?

As soon as we receive your application you will be added to the wait list. We aim to keep wait times under 12 weeks, and will contact you as soon as one of the therapists you have selected to work with has an available spot. Typically, you will hear from us within 1-2 weeks.

From there, you will be offered a free consultation with a therapist for you to decide if you want to work with them. If you feel it’s a good fit, you and the therapist will schedule your sessions and begin your journey together. If you complete the consultation and determine the therapist is not the right fit for you, let us know and we will connect you with a different therapist.

  • Do I get a say in who my therapist is?

Absolutely! You deserve autonomy and agency in your mental health journey, and that begins with choosing your therapist.

You will be offered a free 15-minute consultation to ensure you feel the therapist is a good fit before starting any sessions.

Please make sure to check out our therapists’ bios further down this page before applying so you know who you would like to work with.

  • How many sessions does each person receive?

Each successful applicant will be allotted up to a maximum of 8 sessions to be used within a 3-month period.

Our Associates have all qualified with Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology or Social Work from accredited universities. They hold a variety of professional designations and specialized certifications to meet your needs. Our associates have significant post-graduate experience and ongoing training. You will receive 4 sessions with an Associate Counsellor.

Our Externs have recently graduated from Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology or Social Work and are completing specialized supervision and training with our team of experienced clinical mentors to further their training. Our externs typically hold or are working towards a variety of professional designations. You will receive 6 sessions with an Extern.

Our Interns spend 8 months under the supervision of our experienced clinical mentor team while completing their graduate degree hours. Our interns have completed the academic requirements of their programs and will graduate from their Masters degrees in Counselling Psychology or Social Work at the end of their internship. You will receive 8 sessions with an Intern.

  • What happens once I've used my funded sessions?

Once you have used all of your funded sessions, you are welcome to continue working with your therapist if you would like to. You will discuss their rates and availability with them.

Nicole Stanchfield (she/her)

Hi, I’m Nicole (she/her). I’m a queer, neurodivergent femme, a white settler, and an uninvited guest living on the traditional, unceded lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc peoples, also known as Kamloops. I’m deeply passionate about people—whether through sharing a good meal, building community, or advocating alongside equity-deserving groups. I’m a step-parent to an amazing human and partner to someone wonderful. My family, friends, and community keep me grounded, and I feel most at home when I’m working in service and connection.
