Cam Upton
Hi, I’m Cam (they/them)
** As a counselling intern completing my practicum with Our Landing Place, I am restricted in the types of counselling I can offer. Please fill out this form to help me and my supervising team determine if I can support you. **
I am a queer, transgender, able-bodied, settler living in Kjipuktuk (Halifax), the traditional and unceded land of the Mi’kmaq people. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University with prior degrees in Psychology and Social Work. I have worked supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, doing sex work, using substances, or facing incarceration and approach these through an intersectional and harm-reduction perspective.
My therapeutic approach is quite casual, playful, and collaborative, with a commitment to providing an open and judgement-free space for sharing and exploring. I work through a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens, and as a counselling student, I hope to provide a space where we can grow and learn from one another.
My areas of focus include:
Identity and Gender
Harm Reduction
Sexuality and Sexual Orientation
Depression and Anxiety
Youth 15-25
I cannot currently work with clients who have the following issues:
Severe emotional, physical, or sexual trauma (post-traumatic stress)
Intellectual disabilities, cognitive impairments, and brain trauma
Eating disorders
Psychosis
Current intimate partner violence
If you would like to see if we would be a good fit to work together, please complete this form. Our team will be in touch to schedule a free 15-minute consultation if I am able to offer you support, or a referral to a counsellor who can support you should your current needs be outside of my scope.
Session Fee: $40 per 50-minute session (plus applicable tax).
