Alex Wilson
I am completing my Masters of Education in Counselling at University of Northern British Columbia. I have lived experience in the sex industry and have experience working in low barrier mental health, substance use, and shelter services.
As a counsellor in training, my goal is to create a judgment free space where you can feel comfortable exploring any topic, regardless of societal stigma or “taboo” narrative. I work from a client-centred and trauma-informed framework that is rooted in feminism, harm-reduction, anti-oppression and sex positive values. I am passionate about both strength-based and rights-based approaches that build trust, individual and community healing, and resourcing.
My areas of focus include:
Sex Work
Identity, Gender, Sexuality (focus on Asexual Spectrum)
Substance Misuse and Harm Reduction
Ethical Non-Monogamy / Consensual Non-Monogamy
I do not currently work with the following issues:
Sexual assault and abuse
Psychosis
Eating disorders
Current Intimate partner violence
Post-traumatic stress, perpetrators of abuse, and active addiction will be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure I can provide an appropriate level and type of support.
In my spare time, I like to split my time between the indoors and outdoors. I'm an avid manga and fantasy reader. I love to hike or just take my cat on walks around the neighbourhood.
Session Fee: $40 per 50-minute session (plus applicable tax).
